We finally arrived in Maine - we stayed at Moody Beach RV Resort, which wasn't bad. We had to switch camping spaces due to the first one not being level and basically a mud pit. We couldn't get enough traction to level out the RV so we moved.
After setting up we all opted to check out the closest town, Ogunquit. I have to say, this is one of the cutest seaside towns we've seen on this trip. I also loved all the pride flags that were hung at every shop. What can I say, the people were friendly, the shops cute and we had a nice sunny day to wander around.
The next day was a trip Keith and I had been looking forward to - Portland! We went 2 years ago and have been talking about the meal we had there since that visit. So, we went straight to Eventide Oyster Co. to order a half dozen oysters and two lobster rolls - the most amazing lobster rolls we've ever had! The owner of Eventide is a James Beard award winner, so you know his food is spectacular! Go there!
I had scheduled a tour for us through Groupon. So after lunch, we wandered around the shops for a few hours to kill some time. Then we met up with our tour guide from Portland Explorer. It just so happens we had the tour all to ourselves. He took us all around town, showed us several lighthouses (Portland Head Light) and then swung by a coffee shop where we could buy some of the best Whoopie Pies in town, so he said. That wasn't part of the tour but he had been talking about them so we asked if he would. He gladly did - he might have taken a few for himself as well. 😉 We had a great day in Portland, I love that city!
The next day, Keith fell down our slippery metal stairs so the morning was spent at the hospital getting his hand looked at. Thankfully, it was just a sprain and not a break. He's pretty bruised and in some pain but he will be ok. We decided to lay low and do laundry for the rest of the day. Don't worry though, we still managed to get in a good meal nearby.
On our last day, we headed to Kennebunkport with my folks. We drove by the Bush Compound, stopped at an old church and then wandered into town. We gave Linda her day to shop and opted to wander through shops too.
Tomorrow we head to Bar Harbor and meet back up with Rob and Kris!
