We have been in Orlando at the Orlando RV Resort run by Thousand Trails now for a little over a week. This has been one of our longest stays on our trip. It hasn't been a trip filled with exploring as we are trying to use the downtime to get some work done, save money and eat up the remaining food. We have an international trip to Amsterdam for a week and then we head off on a 2-week Eastern European cruise. Plus, Annie Too will be going into the shop for a little repair on her awning.
Orlando has been pretty good to us. We found a few Groupons we liked. We managed to go to the Eforea Spa at the Hilton for a whole day of spa and pool, which was nice. Then on Friday the 12th, we found a local hibachi grill where we got $40 off our meal.
Our AMEX card gave us money back at Total Wine & More and a few local restaurants so we have been trying to take advantage of those money-saving places. And, of course, there is Publix where we can get groceries and save money with their coupon app.
I have also been using the Fetch Rewards app to scan my receipts to get points back in then turn in for gift cards. (Use referral code UX6AH and you'll get 2,000 points for signing up).
What apps do you use to save money?
Besides the few little outings we've had, we also try to squeeze in some low key pool days at our campground. I just learned there is a gym here so we plan to go use it too.
I get bored really easy when sitting around and we tend to get into a TV show and binge-watch. That, however, isn't helping us get back in shape. It's been way too hot to walk or run outside so laying around inside in the A/C is an easy way to kill time. I'm always looking for suggestions of free or cheap fun.
What do you choose to do on your down days?
On the 11th we headed into downtown Orlando to go to the Thornton Park 2nd Thursday Wine & Art Walk in hopes of finding some new artists for Epiqueue.com (a company we work with) and drinking some wine. We found a few artists, some businesses and an assortment of wine, beer and cocktails along the route.
With my mom being so close, we drove to Ocala on Sunday for a day to do laundry, get our mail and visit with her.
Something new we just discovered is the #RVStickerClub on Instagram. I had ordered some stickers for us off Sticker Mule and they finally arrived. Then to top it off we had a bunch of stickers waiting for us in Ocala. The 4th-grade girl inside me is giddy with excitement. I'm not sure what we will do with all our new stickers but I need to find a home for them.
