We arrived in Littleton, NC with zero knowledge of the area. We checked in at our Thousand Trails campground, Lake Gaston RV & Campground.
Apparently it's first come first serve but a nice guy working there gave us some great info on where to go. He suggested we very quickly go and take space 313 as it had a great view of the lake and a short walk across the dock to the trading post. They have limited spaces with sewer hookups but they do offer a pump-out service for $10 or they have a pump outstation.
We were able to get space 313 and he was right, it was beautiful! We had the perfect view of Lake Gaston. We had no idea this area was so amazing. The campground was very busy but by Monday, it slowed down significantly. We took a few hours and drove into town to check things out. It's a very small town with not much to see. We hit up the Piggly Wiggly for a few supplies, but honestly, there really wasn't much else but a few small shops.
The lake is clearly the highlight of the town.
On Tuesday we opted to rent a boat and spend the whole day on the water. We took the dogs with us hoping they would enjoy the day out. They seemed to do "ok" but they were pacing a lot and didn't ever really get comfortable so we dropped them off at the campground and headed back out on the water. It was a perfect day and just reminded us how much we love being on the water.
To counterbalance the expense of the boat, we ate in every night and managed to do some work while we were there. We loved the lake and the campground so you never know, we may be back here again sooner rather than later. I, of course, looked up homes in the area and it looks to be an affordable place to live.
Next, we are off to Advance, NC for a quick stop on our way to Georgia. We actually have plans there to do a Walking Dead tour and look for places that were filmed in Ozark - two of our favorite shows!
