I haven't been to Hilton Head since I was younger and my grandparents lived there for a short time. Keith and I opted to squeeze it in while staying in Savannah since it isn't very far. It's a really nice area, way out of our price range when it comes to buying a home... unless we want to go back to work full time. No thanks!
I decided to get on Groupon to see what I could find for the area and I decided on a dolphin tour for two. Since we love boats and dolphins it sounded like a great plan for the day. The Groupon was only $39, but that was before my 25% off and 2% back from Ebates. It fit perfectly within our budget.
The tour was very relaxing and we did indeed see dolphins - quite a few actually! We also got to see Hilton Head Light from the water so we can check off another lighthouse from our list. (We don't really have a list but if we did it would have been on it.). The captain of our boat told us you have to pay to get on the strip of island where the lighthouse is located. He suggested you just go to lunch at the restaurant there (or tell them you are) and they won't charge you.
After the tour, I found us a local restaurant with lowcountry cuisine - A Lowcountry Backyard Restaurant. I had a grilled pimento cheese and fried green tomato sandwich. Keith had a grilled pimento cheese sandwich. Both were amazing!
After lunch we found a local winery, Island Winery, for a tasting. We had a little cheese plate with a full glass of wine and sat in their barrel room just enjoying our time there. It turned out to be a really nice afternoon.
