Daufuskie Island yesterday was nice but the winery was a bust… It wasn’t really much of a winery at all. They did have grape vines, which were protected by an electronic fence. Keith witnessed this first hand when he leaned up against it. OUCH!
They did have a rum distillery on the island as well, so we bought some rum instead. Due to SC law, we couldn’t try it unless we took a tour, which wouldn’t allow pets so we couldn’t do it. We will try it later, no concerns. I bought their fruit flavored vodka and a Mona coffee rum.
We took Chance as he wasn’t feeling well. We didn’t want to leave him alone and come back to throw up all over the RV. We think he was faking as he loved going with us and was fine as soon as we got there. After the full day of exploring, he was exhausted, we were exhausted, we all were ready to relax.
The island is cute and can only be accessed via ferry or boat. We rented a golf cart to cruise the whole island. There are only 335 people who live there and cars aren’t really allowed to drive around. We ate the top dish, deviled crabs, at one of the 3 restaurants on the island. We searched for coffee and followed the signs but never found it. Instead we tried the moonshine of the island called scrap metal. It was potent!! We didn’t do the tour of the school or museum, we opted to drive to the beach and then wander the rest of the island. We didn’t care to make all the stops. Glad we went but we can check it off the list and move on to something else.
No discounts were found today, the golf cart did come with the package we bought but I looked for promo codes with no luck.
Today we drive 5 hours to head to CAPE FEAR for a few days. We are making our way up the coast!
