We left our campground and headed to New Haven, CT. Keith has a friend, Billy, who lives there and offered to host us at his home.
Keith maneuvered our 34' trailer up his driveway, backwards! He has gotten really good at parking Annie Too! Billy and Jennifer had a room ready for us and were so kind to feed us the most amazing lobster and steak dinner we have ever had! We had a fun time hanging out and getting to know the whole family.
The next day while they were at work, we opted to explore the area. Yale was our first stop. We wandered the campus, for free, taking tons of photos of the old buildings. We stumbled into the Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library, which was really cool. The building didn't match the decor of any of the others. We pretended to be a part of a tour, which come to find out, we didn't need to do. It's free to visit.
We then were on a mission to find coffee and stumbled into what may be some of the best donuts we have ever had. Donut Crazy, has some really unique flavors. We got 3, splitting one.
We wandered around a bit, stopped at some shops and then were going to head back. I just happened to google unique things to do in New Haven. We ended up finding a unique exhibit in the basement on the Yale Medical Library. The exhibit was tumor ridden brains from the 1914's that had been studied by Dr. Cushing. It wasn't a large exhibit but it was interesting and FREE. I love googling unique things to do in cities and this website, Atlas Obscura, typically comes up. If you're ever not sure what to do, look it up. There are always some interesting suggestions on there.
Lastly, we headed to East Rock Park, which offers some amazing views of the city. We ended the day by visiting Jennifer at work where we had pizza and then visited Billy at his bar where we enjoyed a cocktail. We were exhausted from the day and ended up crashing early. Thanks guys for a great time!
The next morning we packed up and headed for our next destination - New Hampshire/Massachusetts.
