We had a long and very bumpy ride to the Niagara County Camping Resort which is outside of Niagara Falls, NY. The campground was very green and nice but their hookups did not include sewer. This was our first time to have a pump-out service come to our site to pump out our black and greywater. It worked out fine and the campground didn't charge us extra for that.
We scheduled a tour we found on Groupon but when I saw it was a Viator tour I went directly to their website. (The reason for this is the price was the same as Groupon and I don't get my Groupon discount on Viator trips. Plus, I used Ebates on Viator so I would get 3.5% back. The % change often so check on both before you book. For example, today Groupon is 6% back so if I was booking today I would have bought on Groupon.). This is the tour we took.
Our tour was 5 hours in total. We met with the driver at the local casino, which had FREE parking. He then took us to Cave of the Winds. We left our phones behind as we were worried they would get wet. Let me just say this was incredible. You feel like you are standing right in the falls. We walked all the way down and then back up and stood in the water from the falls. It a beautiful mental picture but sadly not one I can post to share. We even snuck in a little kiss while standing under Niagara Falls. It was really special!
Next up was a visit to the whirlpools. They are beautiful but class 5 rapids. Apparently you can hike all the way down to the water's edge but this wasn't that kind of tour.
Lastly, we went on the Maiden of the Mist, which takes you on a boat into the falls. They give you blue tarps to wear and thankfully so, we got wet! It was an incredible sight to see - we had such a great day visiting the area.
We were starving after the tour so we jumped on Yelp and found a pizza place nearby with great reviews. Donatello's is worth checking out - the pizza is amazing and affordable!
